This is how most soprano ukuleles are tuned, and many instructional videos and books will assume that your instrument is prepared in this way. These notes correspond to middle C and the subsequent E, A, and G notes. If there is no indication of whether the set is high or low G, its fairly safe to assume they are high. If the needle is at the left side, the string should be tightened more, if on the right side – loosened. The standard soprano ukulele tuning is done in C6 (the sixth cord): G4-C4-E4-A4. Soprano strings almost always come in re-entrant tuning. The tuner will turn green and the needle will be in the middle if the string is tuned correctly. On the left side of the tuner there’re buttons for each string – you can click them to hear how strings should sound for correctly tuned uke.

Start tuning your ukulele from the thickest string (the one with the lowest sound). Click “Turn on Microphone” button to give the app permission to access your mic. While the standard tuning of the soprano ukulele is A4-D4-F4-B4, it is now almost exclusively tuned down to the concert tuning of G4-C4-E4-A4.If the string isn’t in pitch, the tuner shows you in which direction you’ll need to adjust the string: make it sound higher by tightening it, or lower by loosening the string. The idea is simple: you play an open string on your uke, and tuner shows if has the correct pitch or needs to be adjusted.
